Scanner not saving as PDF

Hi

I have been recently scanning a lot of documents and saving them in PDF form. I did this by selecting PDF format in the show details section for the scanner.

The problem I am now having is that the documents are always saving in JPEG form, even when I select PDF in the format section.

Can anyone tell me how I make it save as PDF?, because it seems to be completely ignoring my command to save as PDF or any other format.

You aren't giving us much to go on......Scanner model? How is the scanner connected to the Mac? OS X Version? Program being used to drive the scanner?
