Scanner sharing fail

Scanner sharing has stopped working! The only thing that changed was an OS X update. The scanner is an MP480 multi-function printer connected to a Mac Mini. Normally, we can scan from our laptops without using scanner sharing without unhooking it and plugging it in directly. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem after the most recent OS X update to Mountain Lion? Also, do the drivers and software need to be present on each machine, or only the one it is connected to?

Try deleting the scanner from 'Printer' in System Preferences and reinstalling it.
