Scanning software

Is there any simple friendly scanning software available for OS X?

I would like something like Simple Scan on Linux. (See picture).

Yes... you already have it and did not realize.

The Image Capture app in your Applications folder will scan for you and is very simple to use.

Can you set preferences like scan to pdf or png?

Or set various resolutions as a preference?

I don't think you can crop in it but that doesn't matter so much.

Yes you can do all of that very easily.

Put something in the scanner then start the app and it will give you an overview of the image/document. Then you can mouse lasso around the doc to select what you want to scan. Set everything how you want then click scan.

Then in the right panel you can select color/B&W, DPI, and file type. See my screenshots.

You are right. I found the preferences over to the right. I don't know why I missed them - I was looking in the drop down menus.

I set to 300 dpi and pdf and closed the program and when I reopened it, it remembered my preferences, so that will work well for me.

I will have to figure out the lasso-ing though because although I managed to scan the whole document, I also got two more images created by the two other smaller selections.
