Scans of Black & White Prints & Negatives Turn Red after IPhoto Editing

Since installing the iPhoto upgrades of late last week, scans (on Epson Perfection V500) of black and white prints and black and white negatives turn red and black when reopened in iPhoto after iPhoto editing. Can Apple be expected to address this problem in the near future? One internet reference to the problem seen at
