Should I wait for the 18.5 to be relased by skipping the 18.4.1 update?
As I read below, this update may brick iPhones at the point where it can be useless...

As always, make sure that the nightly backup is done, and if you are worried, make an extra before updating.
Back in the days I generally closed all apps and did a restart of the phone just to make sure its working fine before updating. And keep in the charger, that might improve download performance and prepp of the update.

Not sure what device you have of version you are on today, but 18.4.1 brought a significant boost in battery performance for me compared to 18.4. It wasn't bad before but they must have done some magic for the HW on the devices I am using (13 pro and 14).

Just FUD. The linked Reddit post is about a phone that already had problems before the update and doesn’t use the term “bricked” correctly.

What a crap article. Some reports say this update suck, but there are serious vulnerabilities, so do it anyways. One comment said he found half a million are having this problem. Where did you count this? FUD FUD FUD.

If you're already on 18.x, no reason to not update to the latest 18.x.x release since it can only get better from there until iOS 19
