I will be moving to a new home soon which I will be doing HomeKit for lightning. Currently I have an older X10 lightning system that uses a remote receiver that controls the scenes. For example I have it programmed to turn-on and dim the family room lights 20 minutes before sunset, whether I am home or not.

I am looking for something similar for my new home, but what do I need for the hub? Can HomeKit be programmed for a similar type scene?

Either an AppleTV or an always-plugged-in iPad can act as the "hub" for automations configured in HomeKit.

Home doesn't currently allow "20 minutes before sunset" as a trigger, but dead on "sunset" is a trigger.

Thanks for the info
