Scheduled Shut Down While Sleeping

I've set my Mac so there is 15 min to screen saver mode and 1 hour to "sleep". In "schedule", I set computer to start at 7AM and Auto shut down at 11PM. HOWEVER, apparently the auto shut down will not function if the computer is in "sleep" mode. Can this be overwritten somehow? I'm sure I am not the only casual computer user that would like it to shut down automatically even though it is in sleep mode. Is there anyway to workaround this?
