Scheduled startup when power adapter is connected

I've found it doesn't matter if the adapter is connected or not, when I have a schedule to start up every morning my Laptop always starts up (in clamshell mode) at the same time every morning regardless of whether the power adapter is inserted or not.

Is there any way to make it only happen when power is inserted or should this be the case and something is wrong with mine?
