Up until today, it was working perfectly with all of our devices. My iPhone and AW running developer betas, and my partner’s iPhone and AW on public releases.

We can still unlock/lock it with the Home app or passcode, it’s strictly just a problem with homekey. We can put our iPhone up to it, the light comes on like it’s trying, the homekey opens up in the wallet app.

We’ve already tried changing the batteries. I dont know enough about how this all works to really troubleshoot it anymore. I’m pretty sure I’m still in my return window if it’s a hardware defect. Is there anything else I can try before doing that?

Edit: managed to factory reset it and re-added to HomeKit. That seemed to fix the problem.

Edit 2: A couple weeks later, same problem again.

I am running into the same problem. Will try the factory reset
Yeah it was kind of annoying having to re-add it to the home. At least the home app remembered the passcode I wanted to use with it.

Same issue with the phone homekey but my watch works perfectly. Odd issue 🤷🏻‍♂️
It started randomly working again for me. Possibly due to a power outage I had last week, rebooting my home hub.

I’m so used to just telling Siri to lock/unlock it now, which is always reliable.

My schlage encode has been a pain the last month or so. Last week I thought it was totally dead. Managed to get it working again last week after leaving it alone for a few days. HomeKey is not working still though. Same thing, it can be controlled by the app, seems to take a minute to update its status in the app, but eventually does. Automations work too. HomeKey just seems dead.

Mine suddenly stopped working that. It’s worked perfect since it launched. Neither my phone or watch seem to get any response from it but I can use the app. I don’t get it

I’m having the same issue. I bought a new one and everything but it did not resolve the issue. Original posts here predate the release of iOS 18 so I don’t think that can be the issue.

It seems to be hit or miss for me now. I’d say maybe 3 out of 5 times it works with my iPhone. I don't even bother trying with my Apple Watch anymore.

The most reliable way is to just ask Siri to unlock it as I’m heading to the door, or do it through the Home app.

It's too bad we had to spend more money on the home key version of this product just or it to not always work as expected.
