Oh man, Thread is driving me nuts. I just installed a Schlage Encode Plus lock. I've already got 6 HomePod Minis and one of the newer ATV 4K, and 0 Eve devices. The only thing that shows up in my Eve Thread topology list is the lock, and it shows Thread as disabled. I'm absolutely baffled and can't figure it out.
The lock is fully functional and is super amazing, just not on Thread I don't think. Not sure since I can't see any Thread devices other than the lock! My Minis aren't showing up and it look like I have no boarder router. I have no clue! Getting into your house with your phone or watch is real cool though, especially when you have kids that lose house keys every 3 days...

Installing it made me also fix my front door sticking after saying I'd get around to it for 2 years now, haha.
I’m very interested in this lock. Hope you don’t mind if I ask, but can you set a schedule for other users on when their passcode is active? For example <insert person> can only enter their code on Fridays from 8am to 3pm. I’m pretty sure you can’t do this in the Home app but does the Schlage app offer this?

I currently have the Yale Assure with August Connect and I want a HomeKey lock but that scheduling feature is important for me. My wife just got a BMW X5 with CarKey and it is amazing, like you say. I’d like to extend this functionality to my house. Actually, that feature alone (CarKey) is reason enough for me to want to trade my car in for a Bimmer.

Found this on youtube … very comprehensive review of the functionality

Also, last I checked the CarKey was only on the 3 and 4 series…good to hear it is quickly getting into their whole lineup.

Thanks for the link. I watched the video previously but it didn’t mention if it has that schedule feature or not.

CarKey started with the 5 Series. Now it’s in pretty much every BMW I think from MY 2021 and up. There is a caveat though. Due to the chip shortage, a lot of the newer produced BMWs are deleting the option, hopefully till this whole pandemic thing blows over. Gotta find one on the lot with CarKey already added from before the shortage.

I'm pretty sure you can't schedule access codes. As you mention, it doesn't do this in the Home app, and the Schlage app is hot garbage, so definitely a no there. In fact, the Schlage app just polls HomeKit to get it's access info. It doesn't actually provide any additional functionality besides a few additional settings like Auto Lock Delay, a forced entry alarm, keypad beeps, and 1-touch locking.

Under the Home / Manage Access screen, there is a toggle for guest codes, but no scheduling.

Thanks for the reply. That’s a bummer. My cleaning lady and GC definitely don’t need access to my house at 3am on a Sunday lol.

Wonder if the Eve, Controller or Home+ app expose the little toggle that enables the guest access, which can then be used in automations. Other than that, I’m torn. Love HomeKey (going by how awesome CarKey is), but need that scheduling feature. Yale Assure with the August Connect module has a very robust feature set.

Has anyone managed to find one of these in the wild? I'm assuming it has to do with the broader global chip shortage but these don't seem to be available anywhere.

Yeah, I would like to know that too. By the way the previous Schlage lock has scheduled time for codes in Schlage app. This is previos HomeKit lock. I don’t know about the new one but it would make sense.

I’ve been getting mixed answers but it would be nice to get a definitive answer on the day/time scheduling for active codes. I asked one of the prominent HomeKit YouTubers that reviewed it (forget who it was) and he replied that it does not have that feature. It’s the only thing holding me back from pursuing this lock. I’ve been happy with my Yale Assure (with August Connect) and been holding out on them releasing an HomeKey version.

I have the Predecessor Schlage Sense smart locks and , yes, you can setup scheduled windows using the Schlage app. I have no complaints about the Schlage app but I only use it for setup and firmware updates. Otherwise I use HomeKit for everything else. You can automate the locks via the Home App.

I’ve been real happy with Schlage Sense smart locks for years but these new locks that allow you to bypass entering the codes sound amazing. I’m probably going to upgrade.

Thanks for that. Curious if it’s the same app features for the two different hardwares. (Sense and Sense+).

Hey there, not sure if you received A definitive reply. I can tell you that I was able to scoop up two of these locks for my Airbnb. I am completely satisfied. I can schedule people to come and go at various times or with a temporary window or all the time whatever I wish. The app is superior to the previous app.

Previously I have used August (Terrible battery life and spotty functionality) Yale (Fine but not great) and Schlage (excellent locks, long life but crappy app and no remote access) When I moved I installed Level Locks. I had High Hopes. I love the concept of the touch entry and auto unlock and lock features. Unfortunately it falls fare short of the hype. For example if you leave the house but don’t go certain distance away the touch entry will not work at all because she’s not left far enough. That’s no good if you are forgetting something you need to run back in… Better have your key with you! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been locked out of my house. Guests can barely install the app and make a functional. That has driven me crazy. I have made so many customer service complaints and have neveFor example if you leave the house but don’t go certain distance away the touch entry will not work at all because she’s not left far enough. I have made so many customer service complaints and as absolutely wonderful as everyone is there it has never reached the functionality of its promise. In hopes of making it work better I added the keypad to both level locks, this way if I get locked out while walking the dog because I forgot my key because I don’t go far enough to use the auto unlock feature or the touch lock feature, maybe I could get in. On one of my locks the keypad works reasonably well on the other one it doesn’t work most of the time. I literally have to type it in eight or nine times before it works and I am not making typing errors! It just isn’t communicating well.

So this Schlage Sense Plus is an absolute gem. The app is superior and works every time. I have no complaints and the battery lasts a long time. Remote access and programming is flawless. When they get back in stock I am ordering two more.
