Hello-
Lately my older MacBook (circa 07 I believe) has been getting scrambled graphics. Most happend after being turned on for 10 minutes or so. Sometimes rebooting will work- other times it wont. The harddrive isn't crashing - looks like it might be something wrong with the graphics card. Is my Mac trashed or is there a possible solution ?

Thanks!

Let me guess... GeForce 8600m?

Amazing that it lasted this long, but sorry to tell you that your computer (like every other laptop containing that particular GPU) has very likely suffered a failure in the solder joints attaching the graphics chip to the motherboard.

There have been isolated reports of people taking theirs to Apple and being granted mercy, but officially the refurbishment program created as a result of a class action suit ended last December.

thanks! I don't even know if ill bother taking it in- it's probably a lost cause. I've gotten years of heavy use out of it so I can't complain.
