I just discovered a rather major scratch on my iPod Touch (2nd Gen). I wouldn't have much of an issue except it's making the entire ipod pretty much bricked - it seems have made the very bottom left corner of the touchscreen break, so it doesn't work with the touchscreen (although every other place does) and so I can't even slide to unlock.

My question is, would this be covered under warranty? I've had the iPod Touch for less than a year (since early May 2010) and I'm thinking about doing the ship it to Apple thing to see if they will replace/repair it. I've heard some say that they don't repair scratches, but I've used other Ipod touches with much worse scratches that were still functional through the touchscreen, I just want that repaired, not necessarily the scratch (if I'm making any sense).

What I'm worried about is that if I send it in, they won't repair/replace it and charge me a diagnostic fee they mention in the e-mail for the service request.

Any advice?
