Hi,

I just got a new iMac i7 3.4 ghz model and loaded it with 16gb ram. My issue is what scratch disk am I going to use. As far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong) PS will first use the ram available and if that is not enough, it will use the hard drive as a scratch disk. My problem is how will I know if it is using the ram or the hard drive? Immediatly when i open PS it creates a temp file on the drive. I am aware that the scratch disk should be a different drive from the main one. This leaves me to think if it actually is using the ram. I'm confused here. I also have a Drobo over firewire 800 and a Time capsule over thernet. Should I get a dedicated firewire hard disk? or can i use the Drobo or Time capsule? would firewire/ethernet be slow?

Any experience which such issues?

Thanks and appriate any help you could give me.

Regards
Aldo
