Last night I rubbed my watch against the stainless steel handle on my oven. SB Ti S6. It left a mark that I can’t feel with my finger nail. Feels flush as can be. It wasn’t a hard rub, just grazed it as I was walking by. Didn’t expect it would’ve done damage to the sapphire glass as I’ve done much worse before. It looks like metallic material but can’t really tell if it’s oleophobic coating that rubbed off. Is there a cleaner and light abrasive that anyone recommends to try to remove it or leave it be? Thanks.

It's hard to tell without seeing the watch itself but it looks as though it may be a permanent mark

Very weird. It feels as though it’s part of the screen, meaning I can’t feel it at all. I’m just pissed because I’m one of those that doesn’t do well with scratches and scuffs on any of my possessions and the reason why I pay extra for the better materials. I do a yearly upgrade but it just made a low resale value even lower lol.

Could that be underneath the glass then? Since if you can't fell it at all, it must be underneath it.

Good question but I’m sitting here scratching my head trying to think how that could’ve gotten underneath. Really blowing my mind. Scratches and scuffs are easily felt with a fingernail, especially something with this relatively thick size. It’s reflecting light evenly like its flat. Almost looks like the glass is discolored. Like if you have tinted glass but there’s a spot that’s not tinted.

That’s titanium? Looks like aluminium

But to the question I got this last year and has no idea how it happened luckily no issues this year but it’s amazing how easily done it is.

Most definitely titanium unless Apple ripped me off lol. You can see the brush marks and satin sheen which the Al does not have.

Should not be this easy. Not for sapphire at least.

I am guessing it is a deposit of some sort on the glass. Sapphire crystal is like 10x harder than stainless steel so it is much more likely that the watch rubbed off a bit of metal same as you would when sanding or polishing it. I would guess the deposit will gradually fade away if you don't do anything to clean it off.

I just upgraded from an aluminum S5 to an SS S6 because I hated the scratches the S5 accumulated.

Feeling kind of underwhelmed because functionally the watches are almost identical.

But then I see this thread, and oh boy!

Yeah that’s what I’m hoping for. It kinda looks metallic. That’s why I was wondering if there’s a light abrasive I could try to remove it. Microfiber cloth is not doing a thing lol.

FWIW, my SBSS S5 was pristine after the year of knocking it around. This might be some kind of fluke. This one got knocked around too for the past few months. Just unlucky I guess.
