iPhone 17 Pro Max Scratched Ceramic Shield 2 in deep blue

was at the Apple Store this morning to pickup my 17 PM in Cosmic orange and Deep blue. Still can’t decide which colour to go with!!

I am leaned towards deep blue but I was shocked to see these scratches in the Ceramic Shield area of the phone.

So now confused should I go with deep blue.

Didn’t see this type of scratches in orange or silver.

Tried to rub with fingers to see if the white portion goes off but looks permanent.

Any other person who has a look at this colour in person, please feedback

fwiw those don’t look like scratches to me on the Ceramic Shield portion. It looks like material transfer from someone who went at it with a key or coin. Would probably wipe off with enough effort

The upper scratch looks like someone keyed it.

probably someone did it on purpose. Sad just a few hours in and people have already damaged then. It’s definitely more prone to chipping but that one seems intentional for sure.

Does the silver colour has coating on it or it's the original colour from the aluminium itself?
I might swap my current blue to silver if the silver does not have paint on it

The back is old Ceramic Shield, only the front has Ceramic Shield 2

Store phones don't show typical wear. No need to be worried. The phone is a tool. Treat it as such and worry about more important things in life.

On my visit to the store, I did see scratches on all the colours. Very disappointing to see this. Will definitely have to use a clear case.

Always could be a problem Apple introduced by changing some formula a bad batch etc.

My strong suspicion though it's just some ******* who thinks he is the next JerryRigEverything.

It makes me wonder how the black Apple Watch Ultra 2s at the Apple Store get so heavily used and damaged months after their release.

Compare the release weekend photos (blue trail loop) with the most recent (Milanese titanium loop) and the last time I saw them on Labor Day weekend, which was the same demo Apple Watch Ultra 2 black at the same Apple Store I visit every 2 weeks. After so many months, hundreds to thousands of people tried the same thing repeatedly, and it had this effect.
