Welp, this happened to me tonight.

I was exiting an airplane at LGA when something caught my wrist and scratched my Space Grey aluminum 42mm on the crown. Really bad. I'm even wearing a jacket over my watch and it still scraped it. So even over my jacket, whatever it was had to be mega hard. The finish is gone and I see white/silver marks.

Be careful out there kids. Now I wonder how I could fix this. I kinda just want to cry and throw it in the trash.

Hey, at least it wasn't an Edition! Imagine hitting the Edition on the metal door frame and having a small chunk of gold scooped out of your watch and stuck on the frame! :D

Sorry, dude. That hurts but don't give up on it.

Do you think the SS would have fared any better?

Just a scratch - as long as it still works you're fine.

That's a bummer! Did you get AppleCare+ with it? If you do, you can send it back in to get fixed/replaced for $79 I believe. You are eligible to do this twice in the span of 2 years. Well, that is if you bough AppleCare+ with your watch.

I ordered that same one kind of watch and bought AppleCare+. I also invested on a screen protector. I'm still deciding if I should get a bumper case too.

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. Any luck with taking it to the Apple store? I've been worried about this specifically, i'm still waiting on 42mm Sport SG. I'm thinking about switching it now to stainless steel.
