scratching turntable

My 16 year old budding dj/rapper wants a turntable for scratching. I found 2 used deals but don't know if they will work for his mac mini setup.
Anyone advise me?

But if they really insist you need something with magnet drive, the technics we use in our studio seem ok though i'm not really the one to know...

Umm this is what I have.

Two Technics 1200MK2, Gemini Mixer, Ortofon Digitrack Needles and Traktor Scratch.

You can't go wrong with 1200s.

This is all getting so confusing and expensive. Anyone have an opinion about this one? Does it look like it works for mac? Seems like it would do the job w/out a record player.

It's a matter of preference. You need to ask him whether he wants to use records or audio files or even CDs. Is it for performance or production?

And yes, it is expensive.

He would want to use it for CD's and audio files, and for the scratching "look" with real LP's. for changing pitch, tempo, stuff like that. but mostly for the look.
