Friday, I downloaded and tried the new Resident Evil Village on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Since it’s horror game, it’s dark. When the screen was darkened, I noticed this strange greenish-yellow aura around the volume/action button. I was using a controller, so I hadn’t been touching the phone. I picked it up and realized it was VERY hot (though not hot enough to trigger the warning). The spot got brighter, then dissipated as the phone cooled. I tried restarting the phone and the warmth that it usually gets upon reindexing after a startup was enough to cause the same aura to be much less visible, but still visible. Again, it went away in a minute or two. My first concern was that the battery was swelling and causing pressure against the screen, so I made a Genius Bar appointment for the next day. They tested it, ran diagnostics, and said that the battery “was good” and had not expanded, but there was some sort of “screen failure” on the test. They replaced the screen, and all seemed fine. This morning, I restarted my phone (like I do every so often) and the warming up that it did once again caused the faint aura that again disappeared. After having the screen replaced and the battery checked and being told that all is good, along with the fact that it goes away quickly, am I reading too much into this? Apple explained to me (and I confirmed with some teardown photos/videos) that the battery isn’t even on that side of the phone, but that the logic board is. Is this yet another thing that just sometimes happens with OLEDs? I’ve been unable to find anything on the internet that relates to my issue directly, so I figured I’d ask here. Any and all info is much appreciated!
