screen brightness changing

the screen brightness on my macbook pro is always changing. i have the auto brightness setting unchecked. i like to keep my brightness at 75% however when i put the charger onto my computer the brightness will go to full, also sometimes when i turn the computer on the brightness is set to full. is there any way to stop this or a setting that i might have overlooked? the same thing happens to the brightness of the backlit keyboard.

System Preferences>Energy Saver>Battery>Slightly dim the display when using this power source

There are different options for Battery and Plugged In.
