Screen brightness in SL always reverts to highest setting

I’ve been loving Snow Leopard (don’t let all these negative threads get you down, people just don’t post threads about how smoothly it goes for them, so you only see posts on the negatives), but I have noticed one thing. Whenever I boot up or plug/unplug a video output cable, the screen reverts to the highest brightness setting. Hopefully this gets fixed in 10.6.1, but it’s really not a big deal at all, I can live with it.
