Using 16 e from a16 plus. Only negative is the screen brightness outdoors - hard to see txt compared to the 16plus Anyone else had this issue and did you stay with 16e because of this

I really wanted to buy the 16e. The main reasons I went with the Pro was screen brightness, 5x optical zoom, and night mode portraits. Screen brightness being most important.

But I really liked the 16e. I don’t like the camera mountain of the Pro.

Just discovered after trying various settings that the screen readability is much improved if set for light mode rather than dark mode Easier to read text and see web pages in bright sunshine.
Much happier now with the 16e !

Well your 16e has a 2 year old display from the iPhone 14 compared to the screen on the 16+. The screen on your 16e has 800nits (1000 nits peak) compared to the 16+ 1000nits (2000 nits peak outdoor). The 16+ screen will be a lot brighter outdoor than your 16e is capable of.

I agree changing from dark to white modes for display helps but not near as easily seen as 16plud or 16

@Zapdoc Hey! Hope you don't mind me asking, but out of curiosity, how old are you?

I'm in my late 50s, and the 16e's typical max brightness of only 800 nits is a bit of a concern for me, especially since they don't list outdoor brightness. My current phone is the iPhone SE 2016 (500 nits). I upgrade every 5-7 years.

In the UK, retailers like Currys and Argos are offering the regular 16-inch model for just £100 more than the 16e.

Edit: changed "Phone SE 2016 (800 nits)" Phone SE 2016 (500 nits)"

As @osta.doc stated, 2016 SE has a max brightness of 500nits..
