My 2010 15 inch Macbook Pro has developed an annoying issue where when I am browsing the internet with chrome (and any other windows that are open) and the desktop will flash up briefly (just long enough to notice its happening) instead of the chrome window whenever I load a new page. It doesnt happen every single time I load a new page but occurs around 75% of the time, and also seems to happen frequently when browsing facebook (opening and closing windows with photos/videos on facebook seems to make it happen a lot). EDIT it appears to happen with other programs as well, often when i open a new program it will flash between the desktop and the program a few times while it is loading up or something.
It has become rather annoying, although it doesnt affect using my laptop its frustrating when i am browsing through pages quickly as the screen will basically flicker between chrome and the desktop behind it whenever i load a page. my first suspicion is something to with flash/some other plug in used by chrome to render pages, as it seems to happen on pages with plug ins rendering videos etc. another strange thing I noticed is that some view settings seem to have changed and my SSD icon was no longer being displayed on the desktop.
The laptop has got 8gb of ram and a samsung ssd i installed recently after the original hdd died, and i did a fresh install of OS X to 10.6.8 and started over with it. the only other thing i can think of is my mum washed my laptop case last time i was home and i accidentally put my laptop in it and transported it back to uni while the inside of the case was still a bit damp when i thought it was dry. my laptop was a bit moist on the outside when i took it out but i left it to dry overnight before using it and it was fine. im not sure if this issue was occurring before that happened but if it was, it is definitely more frequent now.
so anyone have any ideas on this? im hoping it is a software issue rather than something like the graphics card, i tried turning off graphics switching and it still seems to occur but i guess that only rules out the intel built in graphics. im only really worried because i just spent thousands on a mac mini and im in my final year at uni so no way could i afford to replace the macbook if it dies.
