Bought a new 13.3" MBA two weeks ago. I've noticed that sometimes when I wake it up by lifting the lid, there will be a second or two of screen color flickering in the top 3rd of the display. It doesn't happen when I am using an external display.

I'm pretty much always running Chrome when this happens. I disabled Chrome's hardware acceleration on a whim. That may have made it somewhat better. Hard to tell. Not sure if it's related to Chrome or not because I pretty much always have it running. But the flicker is not just in the Chrome window, it runs the full width of the display.

Any thoughts? Worth a trip to the Apple Store? Or is this no big deal or has an easy fix?

Thanks in advance

Is it a color distortion or a back light distortion? Try turning the backlight down to 75% and see if it remains. if it DOES then you likely an LCD issue. Heck even if it doesn't I would take it back anyway. Apple store trip for me unless its no biggie i suppose.
