Screen has stripes and told to restart!!!

Hi Folks,


Lately, my three year old MBP has been freezing and I keep getting this message (picture attached)...a striped error message with something to the effect of "please restart computer..."

Any ideas on what the problem is? It's happened three times in the last two days.

had a similar problem recently and it seemed to be related to the heat of the machine (macmini) if the computer had been on a long time the stripes would come on each time and hang the computer. Leaving the computer to cool overnight left us with 20 mins plus of no stripes.

The problem was solved by replacing the RAM even after Apple had told us it was the main board needing replaced(at vast cost)
