iPod touch Screen is black with apple logo

Hi, I just received my free ipod touch about a month ago when I purchased a macbook pro and all has been fine until this morning while listening to music and walking.. I entered a wifi area and music stops, screen goes black and I have a white apple logo in the middle. It doesn't allow me to do any functions. Anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes, rarely mine freezes up, I have either let it run out of battery so it shuts off or if you sync it often you can just restore it and reload everything.

I'm at work now and don't have the cables to hook it up to my computer. Are you suggesting to juet leave it alone and let the battery drain?


How often those this happen any known updates to fix this?

Holding the home and power button for 5 seconds and then waiting for about 30 seconds fixed this.
