Screen is "squishy" when squeezed on left side

When I squeeze the left side of my black 16G iPhone 3G it feels like the screen is not supported properly and I can feel it bending inwards. After I release the pressure there is a sound as if the screen is pulling away from an adhesive surface. The right side of my screen is completely solid.

Anyone else's iPhone have this problem or am I being too much of a perfectionist?
