Screen issue when charging MBPr 15"

Hi guys,

Recently I have been using my MacBook Pro retina 15 inch (bought around April this year) and then closing the lid when finished as normal. However the issue is when I plug the charger in a few minutes after the lid is closed the screen seems to turn on for a minute or so. I know this because the apple logo lights up.

Does anyone know why this is? Is it a fault? I'm running Mavericks.

Does the screen come on briefly, then go off, or does it remain on? If the former, that's normal.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah I'd say it comes on for a minute or so and then goes off.

If this is normal do you know why this occurs?

Plugging in to AC power and switching from battery power will briefly wake the Mac from sleep mode. It's nothing to worry about.
