This has been ongoing for awhile so not new to iOS 26.
When I receive a call and answer it via a bluetooth device, be it my AirPods or my car that doesn't have CarPlay, the screen on my phone will, of course, but at normal awake brightness...but in this situation the screen never times out and goes dim or off again as long as I remain on the call. I can be driving along with my phone sitting in the passenger seat or center console, take a call via BT, and it could just sit there for an hour long conversation at full tilt sucking up battery like crazy.
Additionally, when it's stuck like this, the proximity sensor doesn't turn the screen off so if you just toss your phone in your pocket, the screen will stay on and remain touch sensitive. I have not specifically tested but I wonder if the phone is already in your pocket and you take a call if the screen activates...
This is in contrast to if I place the call myself via BT using Siri or the contacts list in my car where even though it's still just another BT phone call, the screen will time out at my set display timeout time.
Is this a widespread behavior others are seeing?
I checked and made sure my display timeout was set in Settings. This also can't be hardware as this happened on my 16 Pro Max and now my 17 Pro Max and to top it off, because of some other bugs, I even did a full reset on my 17 Pro Max.
