Just got a MacBook (specifically MacBook Pro M1 14") for the first time. Already had two displays which I wanted to use, but understood I would then be needing a docking station (I have the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Plus).

I connected the dock to the MacBook through Thunderbolt, and was able to use other accessories through it, but when attempting to connect the screens, nothing happened. The dock only provides display ports, but as this is something my screens also have, I tried connecting them together without luck. But when using HDMI (the screens also have HDMI) to connect one of the screens directly into the MacBook, it all of the sudden worked.

Don't know if this is a problem with the cable, or if I need some sort of adapter to be able to connect the HDMI cable into the display port on the dock? Should I get another cable and try with that one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can only connect one display per TB3 w/ M1 Macs. Your setup will have to be HDMI for one display and Belkin dock for the other.
