Screen not working properly

Can anyone help me narrow down the cause of this problem on the screen?

If I take a screen shot, the image is normal without the blurry boxes.

To explain in simplest terms, the inside screen of the laptop is damage. This could have been due to dropping it or something very heavy was placed on top of it. Make an appointment with Apple to see how much they charge to replace the screen.
