Screen of black wire effect iPhone 3g

So when my iPhone 3g sits for a while and its off I get periodically it will show black line going up and down the screen with no specific patter. As if the LCD turned on but no back light or nothing. I don't know if anybody else has this issue but some feedback would be great. I'm running 2.1. 16gb white
