I was wondering if leaving screen on for 6-8 hours will do any harm to my ipod touch . Sometimes while i was using it , i just suddenly sleep ... ._.

Can't see it being a problem. My children will use theirs sometime for 10-12 hours at a time and in 3 years it has never been a problem.

But when they're using it, they aren't keeping one image on the display constantly. I suppose the only potential risk here is screen burn, but to a much lesser extend than ol' CRTs. OP, I'd suggest you set your iPod to autolock after 5 minutes of nonuse just to be safe. Either way, it'll probably be fine.
