Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012(Processor: 2.5Ghz i5, Ram: 4GB DDR3) Running 10.9.3.

The computer started showing signs of reduced performance after the recent update to 10.9.3. Only running 2-3 PDF files, 1 Chrome browser and 2-3 Word files, simultaneously.

More concerningly, the computer has frozen and witnessed flickering screen pixelation, to form particular rectangular patterns, thrice in the past 24 hours. In the most recent one, after i performed a forced shut down the screen didn't turn on while the macbook made three beeps after every 10 seconds. I tried to turn it on again 3-4 minutes later and to my surprise it turned on just fine without the beeps.

I have run the disk utility check, the result was okay. Have also reset the PRAM and the SMC, both successfully.

Does a complete system crash seem likely in the coming few days? Because of being in the middle of final year exams at law school, a visit to the apple store or a complete OS re-install isn't something that is feasible within the next 2 weeks

I am writing to this esteemed community as a matter of urgency and would appreciate a reply from any helpful member at the earliest possible time.

Thanking you.

Kind regards
