I recently bought a 2G iPod Touch 32gb and the RebelTouch case from Switcheasy. It came with two screen protector sticky films. I put the protector on, and in the lighting in my house, outdoors, car, etc, it looked pretty good. One or two small air bubbles, but not on the screen.

Today I took it to work for the first time, and my office has some sort of fluorescent tube lights overhead. When looking at the iPod from most angles (except dead on), I'm seeing this purple'ish wavy rainbow looking pattern over the entire face (both screen and the plastic around it). It's really annoying, I can see it somewhat even with the screen turned on, and there's barely a "sweet spot" where it goes away.

Anyone else ever experience this? If it's just a low quality protector, I'll remove it and buy a new one (any suggestions??).

EDIT: Added a picture. It's really hard to capture the effect, but you can sorta make out the wavy'ness.

you are getting interference patterns ( moire/refraction/prism effect/ it has many names but its all the same phenomenom)

a) did you remove both sides of the screen protector ( sometimes it comes with two layers of protective film

b) your iphone had some sort of film when you applied it ( wax/water /etc) that is not allowing proper contact between both layers ( glass and plasticc)

c) you got a crappy screen protector

Yes, I pulled off all layers of the protector as I applied it. I also cleaned the screen well before applying.

For what it's worth, I've only ever seen this effect under the lighting at my office. And my boss has a cheap Fellowes protector on her iPod which does the same thing, although a bit less pronounced, and the waves go in the other direction.

Anyone ever see this before and resolve with a new protector? Wondering if there are any that don't have this issue.

I get this too. Again, it's most noticeable in the office, and again, it's a screen protector that came with a SwitchEasy case. Would appreciate some recommendations for better quality screen protectors if anyone has them?

It's kind of like the window tint on a car. You'll get a blotchy rainbow effect depending on what the screen protector is made of (especially under certain types of light)

My old cheap screen protectors make the screen look like pixelized crystals and when it was on a white screen, it would look like billions of pixels all showing the colors of the rainbow..........and it was annoying.

The only screen protector I've used (and it's the best one so far) has been the "InvisibleShield". I got it at Best Buy for $20 bucks and well worth it. No Rainbow effects, and you can't tell it's on there.
