Hi,

I’ve just purchased my first ever smartphone: the iPhone SE2. It is a wonderful thing, but I have a question about protecting the screen.

For 10 years, I’ve used iPads. I have never used a screen protector and never had a single scratch. I use only a Smart Cover. The back is naked, flip back the Smart Cover, and I’m away. I’ve never had a single scratch on the back.

I’ve also used iPod Touch completely naked with a slip-in case. No scratches. And an iPod classic, still in use, with a simple case but no screen protector. A few bumps along the road, but no screen scratches.

Now, my new iPhone. I’ve bought a simple Torras Case which is wireless-charger compliant, covers the back and sides and protects the back from being marked by my new wireless charger.

But a screen protector? I’ve never liked them or used them. They are horrible to put on and I love my shiny screens which are made to be lovingly fondled.

So my question is: Do you use a screen protector on your iPhone? If so, recommendations, issues, likes, dislikes... If not, why not and how is your screen holding up?

And, if you don’t use a screen protector, do you have any case recommendations for cases which are wireless-charger compliant (meaning you don’t need to remove the phone from the case to wirelessly charge it), not bulky, and easy to use, like the iPad Smart Cover? Is there a Smart Cover equivalent for the iPhone SE2?

That‘s a lot more than one question. So have at it!

Cheers.

Have never used a screen protector on any iPhone and never had a scratch. Cases, yes.

I use a screen protector, but only because if I ever decide to sell it, it won’t have any micro scratches. I paid $9 for 2 edge to edge screen protectors. I use a Apple silicone case I bought from Amazon, so it’s not bulky.

I always use tempered glass screen protectors, I used to love Walmart's blackweb, but apparently they don't make them anymore, they were so easy to install, left zero bubbles on both my 7+ and my XS Max, as for cases, I guess it depends, if you get a thick military grade case it could protect the screen if dropped. I have a custom 49ers case that I got from I think shop49ers.com.

I stopped using screen protectors since I had the iPhone 5. I think the risk of a few micro scratches outweighs losing the experience of a protector-less screen.

I use a edge to edge screen protector and a case.
The e2e let me forget that I even have a screen protector and feels very natural

I’ve used them on and off since my xr. Currently, I’m not using one on my se2, but I did order a dbrand prism screen protector since it’s on sale for $14.99. It should arrive next week sometime. The only reason I’m going to try another screen protector is because I’ve already scratched my screen. The scratch is tiny and barely noticeable, but I don’t want it to get worse or get scratched up even more.

Naked for a week. Thanks for the input. Seems to be a50/50 split between protector and no protector. I have a Torras case. But the screen is nuddy and goody so far.

I use a totallee thin case and Manto edge to edge screen protector on my SE2 now. My first SE2 was scratched on the screen by the 2nd day I had it. The 2nd week it took a hard corner hit after it fell from the roof of my house. Back Glass was busted but the screen was perfectly fine. Everything still worked perfectly on it and I still have it for a repair project.

Screen protector is important to safeguard your screen. Just in case, If you are planning to buy a new one and want to sell it then it is required to be scratch free.
