I've been waffling back and forth on about putting a screen protector on my new phone. I don't care about minor scratches, but will the screen protector A) help prevent broken screens in the event of a drop, and B) reduce the quality of the new display?

I've used the invisible shield before and while I know many people don't like the "orange peel" feel to it, I rather like it. I also like the added grip that it provides, but unless it adds protection against shattered screens (been there, sucks), I'd rather leave her naked (giggity)

Also, I know a case would help, but I'm just curious about the protector for now.

from my experience, screen protector saved my screen from cracking

I've ordered some front and back protectors from this company ... blueunplugged, here in the UK.

1.95 each, free postage within the UK.

Should be here on Tuesday, so until then I'll need to be careful with my new toy. :D

I won't say that film protects from shatters... but I'll say this:

I never cracked the glass when dropping it when I had a protector on.

I cracked the glass twice when it didn't.

Yeah, i'd have to think it offers strength in the way plywood works to a degree.

And it's effect (affect? dammit!) on the retina display?
