So can anyone make a reasonable assumption from what we have seen on videos floating around and pictures of the 5s that we have seen will iPhone 5 screen protectors fit on the 5s due to the new touch home button? To me and I may be wrong but it looks bigger than currently sits due to the metallic rim, or is that an illusion?

The metal ring is only used to detect that your finger is on the home button, so I imagine that if your iPhone 5 screen protector covers this a bit then it would be ok.
