Since iPhone 5 is supposedly getting a bigger screen.. It would make sense that Apple will increase the resolution to keep the same retina-PPI of ~326.

What do you think will be the resolution of iPhone 5's screen?
I'm thinkin 1024x768, (and sadly all apps have to be adopted to fit the new screen size / aspect ratio otherwise they will be stretched to fit the screen)

My old laptop had that resolution. How technology changes...:rolleyes:

1024x768 would be great if you wanted your phone to look like a square. Remember how much people hated the fat iPod nano?

I'd like to see them adopt a 16:10 ratio. 1024x640.

They should just make it 1920X1280. Then they'll never have worry about the retina-ppi going down if they increase the screen size.

There is no iPhone 5 folks, just iPhone 4S and the resolution will be the same as iPhone 4.

They will not increase the resolution again. It would be a huge headache for developers. The current resolution is fine for a screen of around 4''.

Doesn't matter... there won't be an iPhone 5 anyway. At least not in 2011.

You're hilarious

If they adopt a screen resolution just like the original iPad, then it wouldn't

So you're suggesting running iPad apps on iPhone. Hmm let's dump all iPhone apps on the App Store then.

You do know there are still phones on the market that use the old pre-iphone4 resolution, and they can still run apps just fine. I dont think anyone is suggesting dumping anything. We're in a transitional period- smartphones are still pretty much in their infancy. As they progress, the need for constantly upping the res and screen size will diminish. In the mean time, be open to change.

I'm definitely very open to change. In fact I'm dying to have an iPhone with new screen dimension.
The reason why pre-iPhone 4 apps are still relevant is because they are the exact same dimension ratio as the newer ones. Imagine you have a new screen that runs iPad resolution, and you still need a lot of your old iPhone apps. How will that look like? (Hint: look at how the current iPads running iPhone apps)
