Screen Saver blows up System Preferences

I tried to change my screen saver to pull from my digital pictures folder and it just blows up System Preferences. Most of my pics were taken with a Canon 5D, a 12.8 MP camera and the file sizes tend to be larger than 4 MB. When I copied some small photos into iPhoto and pointed to those, no problem.

Not sure if anyone else has tried this using photos with larger file sizes.
