Hi,

I have a weird problem with a newly purchased Mac Mini 2014 model. I have it connected to a TV, acting like a home media hub. It has macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 installed, no 3rd party software, only what came out-of-the-box. When I open iTunes and it is playing music, screensaver is not starting. When I stop music and leave iTunes window open then screensaver is starting with on problem. Issue is happening only with audio playing in background.
I can't understand how audio can prevent screensaver. I don't have that issue on iMac with the same version of macOS. I already tried resetting NVRAM and SMC, even re-installed macOS but with no luck.

Just thought maybe someone else came across the same problem.

Cheers,
Seb

Yep I had same issue. It's all in the TV settings. I have a Vizio runs OK. Two TCL brand sets required menu resetting. The TCL's use sound to trigger the screen savers. Good luck. A2
