Screen Sharing from outside home network

Hi all,

I know I can screen share from my Macbook Air to my Macbook Pro when Im at home. I was wondering how I should go about accessing my Macbook Pro when Im at school, Preferably I would go about screen sharing the same way but not sure if that will work. I read some thing about a VNC connection, can anybody explain/link me on how to set it up?
