¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Screen sharing has stopped working on my 84-yo mother's Mac Mini from 2011 running High Sierra. I keep getting this error:

The firewall isn't blocking: screen sharing is mentioned as permitting incoming connections, but even if I turn the firewall off screen sharing won't work.

I've tried to add my account under Users & Groups and added that in Sys Prefs—Screen Sharing but it doesn't help. It also doesn't work if I allow everyone to connect.

I have also tried to share using Messages app on my Macs but I get the same error.

Can someone help me with this? I am having a hard time helping my mum since I live in another location and she quite frequently needs assistance with the computer.

Thank you in advance
Philip

I just had to coach my (also 84-yo) Mom through restarting her Mac because my Screen Share request wasn't coming through on her end of things.

In the end I installed TeamViewer. I just couldn't get it to work. Perhaps it's possible to open ports on the router to let traffic through but I honestly don't have the time for that in order to fix something that just used to work. In case you haven't tried it give it a go.

cheers
Philip

Don't know if this is helpful but I'm going through what you are and found this link. Maybe it will help. Good luck!

I'm afraid it won't work because the cable is too short as my mother and I are in different countries.

Happy new year!
