I got a Mac mini in one room and a MacBook Air in another room. I want to access the Mac mini from my MBA. I start screen sharing from the app and it connects and works great. However, when I disconnect, the Mac mini becomes stuck in a black screen, and sometimes freezes. It's like it doesn't disconnect.

I've had to force shutdown the Mac mini 5 times.

I've tried with Standard connection, and High Performance with 1 Virtual Desktop. Sometimes the Mac mini gets stuck in the screen where it makes you choose whether you want to mirror or extend.

I tried waking up the Mac mini by screen sharing and it did work. When I disconnected, it went to sleep, but when I tried to wake it, it was a black screen.

I am running the lates software update 15.4.?. It's the most recent.

My entire purpose of the Mac mini is to run it via screen sharing, but it's not working. Does anyone have a solution. I appreciate any help. Thank you!

For debugging, try logging out on the remote system before disconnecting from sharing. It could be that your controlling Mac is holding on to the session. Check Activity Monitor to see whether "Screen Sharing" is there and quit it.

I use Apple Remote Desktop instead of "Screen Sharing" and have not seen issues with it unless I forget to quite the controlling session,
