Screen stays off when MBP in sleep

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem:

When I close the lid of my MBP, it goes to sleep as normal. However, sometimes when I open the lid back up, the screen just doesn't turn on. The computer is definitely on, I can hear the fan going and the computer making its computer sounds. But the sleep light indicator turns off when I open the lid, then turns back on when I close the lid again.

Anyone able to help me out?

common issue, i've had that problem myself but not so frequently these days.. still haven't found a solid answer...
