Screen tearing and freezing.

My 2012 15in cMBP lately has been acting weird lately. When running normally on one desktop, applications run fine. However, when swiping in between desktop or launching mission control, I get screen tearing and freezes. I'm not sure what is causing this.
 
I'm now worried that my GPU might be dying. No one has any ideas? I won't be able to get to an Apple Store until Thursday or Friday when I return the city.
