Recently using screen time I have noticed a bug. When you don't shut down your computer most times the time will run at night even on sleep so in the morning your time is run up and you see some absurd number of hours such as 12 hours or more. Has anyone found a fix? The bug is extremely annoying and it seems that apple was just lazy and pumped this out haphazardly without testing it thoroughly.

There have been many similar reports. Most likely, macOS counts any time that is not idle as active usage time. Even if the Mac is asleep, it still can do some background tasks, like checking updates, fetching emails, etc.
There is no fix, as far as I know. I think we are constrained to waiting for some sort of an update from Apple.
