Bringing this back up to see if there’s any solution been found. I’ve tried everything that I could find online in various places to no avail. I have screen time enabled and downtime turned on. It works as intended for every damn app on the device except the YouTube app (it successfully blocks access to the YouTube Kids app when it’s supposed to). Why won’t it work with the regular YouTube app? Has anyone figured this out yet? It’s driving me insane. That’s the one I want blocked the most out of all of them. 🙃

Does YouTube happen to be listed under the “Always Allowed” section of screen time?
No. All apps are included. I’ve even tried to add YouTube separately and it still allows it. Seems it’s might be a bug or something with some apps that keep them always available from what I can find online, but there does t seem to be anything definitive, and a lot of information is outdated. I see people have trouble with YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp, just to name a few of the if ones I’ve seen mentioned. YouTube is the only one we have installed so I don’t know about the others.

Try adding “youtube.com” just as a website. When you do this, not only does it block the website in Safari, but it blocks the app too. See if that works.

I think I’ve tried that in the past as well, but I’ll give it another shot. Thanks. It’s just very frustrating that it works with every other app except this one. And it seems many other people have the same issue, not just me.
