Screensaver double up

Hi, I have a MacBook pro Retina running High Sierra. I think this started when I upgraded to High Sierra. When the screen saver starts, the first frame freezes full screen while the screensaver continues to run letterboxed with the frozen frame underneath. I have attached an example image. Any ideas?
