Screensaver freezes but terminates properly

I have a new install of 10.5 and the following glitch. The screensaver comes on as expected but after a bit the images freeze. Doesn't seem to matter which screensaver I use, it works the same. When I move the mouse, the normal images return as expected. This glitch appears to negate the advantage of having a screensaver.

Screensaver problem solved

It seems that I failed to consider that the 'Energy Saver' settings take over even if the screensaver is active and terminates CPU activity, thereby freezing the screensaver image on the screen. I set the energy saver times to a long interval and the screensaver works as expected.
