is there a way to change the format of the screenshot images when it captures it?

several dashboard screen capture widgets let you change their format.

Not certain that this is what you want, but once Grab has taken a pic, go file->Save as and choose the format.

Tinkertool is nice... :)

I think I wrote an Automator script that captured screens in another format, or perhaps it converted the one you just captured to some other format. It was something my wife needed to use with Powerpoint, if I remember correctly, and it worked for what she needed.

If you don't have a better solution, I could track down that script for you. But, knowing you can change image file formats in Automator might be enough of a clue if you want to do it yourself.

tried tinker tools it doesnt have that option on mine, the other suggestions are too complicated for me so i'll leave it,thanks anyways

You don't have Mac OS X 10.3 by any chance...?

If so, you need to use Grab (or some 3rd party tool) to get screen shots in various formats...
